An edible vegetable oil extracted from the reddish pulp (mesocarp) of the African oil palm (Elaeis guineensis). Composed of about 50% saturated fat (primarily palmitic acid) and 40% monounsaturated fat (oleic acid) and is rich in vitamin E (tocotrienols) and beta-carotene (in unrefined red palm oil).
